Rio Vista Estuarine Research Station (RVERS)

The Rio Vista Estuarine Research Station or RVERS (pronounced “rivers”) is a future state of the art research and monitoring station to consolidate Interagency Ecological Program field activities. It will be established in a centralized Delta location in the City of Rio Vista and bring together federal and State scientists from multiple agencies focused on conducting science to support a reliable California water supply and protect our estuarine ecosystem.

Benefits

• Establishment of a research station in a central Bay-Delta location to facilitate increased efficiency of on-going aquatic research and monitoring efforts.
• Bring together agency staff and other scientists working on Bay-Delta research and monitoring for increased communication and collaboration.
• Co-location with a facility capable of studying Bay-Delta threatened fishes in captivity (i.e., USFWS Fish Technology Center).

Milestones

• Finalized Environmental Impact Report and Environmental Impact Statement (EIR/EIS)
• Included as a Condition of the 2020 CDFW Incidental Take Permit
• Covered Action under the Delta Stewardship Council's Delta Plan
• Development of performance criteria for a future RFP, pending additional funding (Date: TBD but not expected prior to second half of 2022).
